Family Portraits

I have always felt that a family portrait is one of the most important things you can have in your home. Life can be very hectic and fast so it is nice to have a permanent reminder of your family at a specific time in your lives.

The usual definition of family is a couple with children but it can also be much wider than that. A portrait with your favourite pet or just with your siblings or even with your closest friends. All these and more make great Family Portraits.

I am often asked when is the best time to take a family portrait? Well the answer is now, don’t put it off too long. It can be planned around a holiday or a special event in your family - whenever you can get the family together.

Families change, new members come along and some move on. A family portrait should not be a once-in-a-lifetime undertaking. And even if things don’t drastically change you should have a family portrait taken once every three years or so to keep a record of your family as it grows through the years.

At Forever One Photography in-home and location portrait sessions are offered.

What to Wear?

As any photographer will tell you this is one of the most often asked questions. I will always recommend to coordinate not necessarily match outfits. If it is an inside location, pick 2 or 3 colours keeping in mind the colours of the room where the photographs will be taken. If outside, just work with 2 or 3 colours that you like and that coordinate well with each other.

I recently came across a wonderful site by Kristen Duke on What to Wear in Portraits? Check it out for tons of ideas on what will make great combinations for your next family portrait.
